Community Capital Management Announces Winner of 7th Annual Impact Awards

Ft. Lauderdale, FL, December 14, 2023: Community Capital Management, LLC (CCM), a leading impact and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing manager, announced today that a bond issued by North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University is the winner of its 2023 impact awards and will receive a $10,000 donation.

The bond is a taxable municipal issued by the first university in North Carolina for people of color and is one of the country’s largest historically Black colleges and universities (HBCU) by enrollment. The bond finances a variety of school initiatives, including the construction of a student healthcare center.

“We launched the impact awards in 2017 as a way to showcase the many positive impacts from investments made on behalf of our clients and included a donation of $10,000 to the winning investment or affiliated nonprofit,” said Alyssa Greenspan, chief executive officer and president of CCM. “We are honored to continue showcasing different types of impact investments and how they are helping people and communities in need nationwide.”

The four finalists have equally impactful stories, including:

  • The Yes 2 Arts taxable municipal bond to increase free, accessible arts programming for Miami Beach residents; generate positive economic development for the community and support local jobs; and protect and preserve the city’s cultural institutions.
  • An agency commercial mortgage-backed security (CMBS) financing Schervier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in the Bronx that seeks to help short-term residents achieve the highest level of independent functioning and help long-term residents prevent avoidable decline in function and independence by providing rehabilitation therapies, wound care, long-term care, memory care and other supplemental services.
  • An asset-backed security (ABS) financing a small business administration (SBA) loan to Afrodisiac Enterprises, a minority- and woman-owned full-service Jamaican-Creole fusion restaurant in New Orleans. In 2020, Afrodisiac deployed its food truck as a portable kitchen to help feed homeless people in the city during the COVID-19 pandemic and consulted with a local nonprofit to address racial inequity in the restaurant industry.
  • An agency CMBS financing Bay Meadow Apartments, an affordable rental housing property in Springfield, MA, in a moderate-income, majority-minority, and high-poverty neighborhood. In partnership with Home Grown Springfield, a local culinary and nutrition program, Bay Meadow Apartments hosts a summer meal program that offers free, nutritious meals to children up to the age of eighteen.
